Waist Deep (2006)

IMDB rating: 5.20

Plot: “I’ll always come back for you,” single father O2 tells his young son Junior. This parental promise is put to the test when O2 is suddenly plunged into a do-or-die situation; trying to go straight for Junior’s sake, this recently paroled ex-con is forced to go back outside the law after his son is kidnapped in a carjacking. The resulting chase and shootout have left Junior in the hands of Meat, the vicious leader of the Outlaw Syndicate. O2’s shady cousin Lucky tries to mediate, but is caught between criminal and family loyalties. The only person who can or will help O2 get his son back is wily street-smart hustler Coco, whose path fatefully crossed O2’s just moments before the kidnapping. When Lucky gets word to O2 that Meat expects $100,000 for Junior’s freedom, O2 and Coco seize the opportunity to pit rival elements of the South Los Angeles underworld against each other. “It’s either all or nothing,” realizes O2. With the clock ticking down, the heat between O2 and Coco rises as they become a lawbreaking couple, on an tear through a range of Los Angeles neighborhoods. Can they outwit the underworld and save Junior and themselves?

I wrote a short story and I'd like an answer about what you think and how I can improve it Pt. 3?
Pt. 3
He swooped me into his arms and onto the bed. Then he lay down on the bed next to me. He hummed my song into my ear as I lay my head on his broad chest.
I fell asleep to his humming, in the morning; I woke to his shuffling of pages on the bed. He was sitting on the end with some papers in his hand.

C-Dwight Howard
PF-Kevin Garnett
SF-LeBron James
SG-Dwayne Wade
PG-Derrick Rose
Dwight Howard-A great power dunker, dominating wth those power dunks:two handed, one handed, over man power dunks two or one handed and on alleyops.A slam dunk champion who plays a centre, his two handed power dunks are the best in the nba.His best dunk was the Superman dunks that gave him the nickname Superman.
Kevin Garnett-The best dunker from the PF,Studemire was close but I still hink that Garnett is better. This is a great power dunker, his one handed power dunks are the best in the nba and I thik that KG is a former slam dunk champion because I saw a clip where a player who had a jersey number 21 dunked over those things for the three point contests, those things where the ball are putten.Yeah, that’s a great dunker.
SF-LeBron James-The best dunker in the nba.His best dunks are 180’s,from long range, one handed power dunks over man and on alleyops are the best in the nba. This guy can dunk awesome, his best dunk is from the free throw line vs the Bucks. That’s a real dunker.
SG-Dwayne Wade-The best dunker from sgs,Kobe isn’t good for Wade, who is a great dunker. His one handed spectacular dunks are the best in the nba.A great dunker who can dunk also from range, one handed over man,360’s and 180’s and on alleyops.
PG-Derrick Rose-The best dunker from the point guards. His best dunks are one handed, one handed overman and from range.A great dunker for his position.

How does one get into the animation field?
I want to be able to create my own cartoons eventually. I love the unique worlds such as Cowboy Bebop, or Aeon Flux… and I want to know how to get a job like that.

I graduated from art college several years ago. AAC in the bayarea. If you don’t know anyone who’s in animation field, you can try to present your idea and art work to the teachers in art school. Most of teachers in my school are not professional educator but professional artist. Such as most teachers who is teaching animation may from the big film company. Some of them fly from LA to give us class everyweek.
I thought you may start from their if you go some good stuff. But if you really got some great stuff, be careful with who you deal with. We had sign the contract that all our works belong to school when we were. I have known there some teachers keep student’s idea become their own…

Look into getting enrolled in a graphic arts class in a college or school, and take it from there.

If you have the love and obviously talent you can!
Good animation takes countless time and effort.
Be consistant do not drift in to other things in that area
You can professionalize abything if you just keep on keeping on!

Goodluck, animation is good fun work
bringin life to a character is certainlya great feeling of giving birth.

Kill myself (yes or no)?
You can do it fast, slow or cause an accident on the freeway and take some people with you !!!!!
You can also change your mind and start helping people in need. Would that not be something ?
Instead of taking life’s, you start saving them. O.K. let’s think how should we set this picture in
motion. Let’s start by taking the attention off ourselves and put more into others. Wow, what a
thought. Now everyone you come in contact with will see you as an Angel (or such). See how
this all works ? The OTHER you has killed itself. So it can’t be around helping people. This way everyone on the list just goes through life wanting something it will never have because you removed yourself from the "big picture" and guess what? NO ONE CAN TAKE YOUR PLACE !!!
See, The Power Above had made plans for you down here on Planet Earth, but you said, "Hey, I
don’t want the job of helping others." That also means all your family tree stops with you. All the efforts of your Parents and Grandparents down the line just kind of stops. All those cold mornings they got up at 4:00 am and went to work in snow was for nothing. I mean their dreams of a home
at Christmas sitting around drinking punch with the family and laughing about family stuff just stops.
Yes, there is no future. Your child who grows up and finds a cure for H1N1 will never happen. The
world just keeps on without your giving back for your Blessings. Don’t be thankful you have two arms, legs and can see and speak. Don’t appreciate hearing "that" song on the radio last week
that put you in a good mood. We could go on and on here with all the good stuff you forgot you
have. What a shame…

Before I left my wife’s grave sight I got out of my car and walked back up that long hill to say a
final goodbye to the woman I loved. She’s located in Southern Missouri outside a quiet little town
with rolling hills filled with trees, and wild flowers. In the summer when you walk down to the
creek to throw a rock into it’s clear water, you’ll see all kinds of birds flying here and there sing-
ing their song for the world to hear. With all kinds of Mother Nature all around you the big city
sounds are far far away. Sometimes I play a game that I’m farmer back in 1822 taking a break
from a hard days work to put my tin cup down in the cool water that taste so great on hot July
afternoon. I want to invite all of you with a mind set on killing yourself to hold off until July the 4th.
That’s the day we stop for a moment to thank God we live in America the land of the free. You
know this land you walk on was paid for by many-many men and women who went into combat
just so you could go down to a stream and sip a cup of water on a hot summer day. Come on
out here to the Mid-West and drink as much of our free water as you want. I’ll bet you $1.00
you change your mind about pulling that trigger my friend. I’ll bet you come up with an idea of
how when you get back home you can try this and that so maybe that problem of yours kind of
fall way far back in your mind.

Heck, look at me ! I took that .45 cal pistol away from my head and put back in it’s hiding place.
Then I waited until around 5:30 am and went to 6 o’clock church for two weeks. I asked God
for a wife and kid’s. Ended up with a beautiful woman and 5 fantastic children.

Ask God what He has planned for you? And remember… it may take a bit of time before He get’s
things all set-up for you. Then someday you’ll be like me. Sitting here remembering all the events
that took place after the night you almost pulled the trigger (or whatever).

My name is Tom B. I’ve been clean and sober since 11/5/85 because God wanted me to write
these words to you because "tomorrow" is the 1st day in the rest of your life…

uhm this is really long.

Nice try but I’m an atheist. Guess there’s no hope for my life. *tear*

EDIT: Stark Lust – I agree with that, too. Good message, and I’m sort of sorry I can’t agree with the religious aspect of it. *shrug*
tunuviel | Jan 24, 2010

Hello there, Tom. :) This truly is a wonderful story. I’m sure that a lot of people needed to see something like this, it’s a very inspirational piece of writing. I am extremely happy for you, you’re strong for overcoming your misery and making something of your life. It takes courage to stand up and help yourself and others. I hope that this comforts people that feel scared and alone, because we all do at some point in our lives.

Edit: Tunuviel: I’m not religious either, but I think the whole point of the story is great. You don’t have to be religious to find comfort in life, but I’m glad he found something to live for.
Stark Lust | Jan 24, 2010

Suicide is a thing that’s so frowned upon in this society, but honestly, life isn’t for everybody it really isn’t. life is like animal porn not everybody will enjoy it. It’s sad when kids kill themselves ’cause they didn’t really give life a chance, but life is like a movie: if you’ve sat through more than half of it and it sucked every second so far, it probably isn’t gonna get great right at the very end for you and make it all worthwhile. No one should blame you for walking out early.

Number 54 was a recommendation straight out of R&P. Rukrym, an old user, told me about him, kind of comparing him to Elliott Smith. A lot of Dylan, some Nick Drake. He’s a very cool folk artist. I’m a big fan of the melodies in this song. Just a really nice song.

Fionn Regan – the Underwood Typewriter

So, what did you think?
BQ: What’s your favorite tune from the countdown so far?

Thanks a lot everybody for listening and commenting and just being such a cool collection of folks.
Happy Monday. Hope it’s treating you all very well.
Thanks a lot Ron. I’m really glad you liked it. If I did it all over again I would have rated the Hendrix tune higher. Great song. Thanks.
Hey Punch.
Thanks a lot for the kind words. I’m really glad you liked the song and are enjoying the list. That’s really cool that you had 1 degree from Warren Zevon. I always heard he had an amazing reputation for being a really great guy. Always nice to hear things like that confirmed. He really was pretty amazing. It is a real shame that he’s gone.
Have a good one Punch.
Hi David.
Thanks man. I’m glad it worked for you. Hope Monday is treating you great man.

Huevo!
What’s up buddy? How’ve things been going? It’s really good to see you around here.
Thanks a lot. I’m glad that I can toss out some new stuff that you like. It’s the thing I most wanted to accomplish, even though the list isn’t hurting for standards which I enjoy too.
Thanks about the impecable tastes. It is especially gratifying coming from you, who I think has impecable taste. (insert smile face)
Hope you guys are healthy and happy man.
Hi Captain.
Man, I’ll take pleasant after the run I’ve been on. (insert smile face)
That’s really cool that you liked the Spires so much. I’m really into their newest record (beginning of this year). They added a bass player and it’s got a little more depth of sound to it. Different, but very good.
Thanks Captain. Have a good one man.

Hi Red Devil.
I’m glad you dig it man. I have the record with Be Good Or Be Gone and this track on it and it’s definitely good. It starts to feel a little same-y by the end of it, but I like it.
Thanks man. Have a good one.
Thanks a lot Huevo. Cheers to the season indeed my friend. Came up way to fast this year. I can’t even believe it really.

Hi Beatle.
You know, I can totally hear that. I wouldn’t have thought of it myself, but I bet I will from now on.
Take it easy man. Thanks.

Hi Prof.!

That song was pretty cool, reminded me a lot of Paul McCartney actually, his voice is somewhat similar.

BQ – #57 Warren Zevon with #78 Buffalo Springfield a close second!

BQ: #70 Jimi Hendrix – Castles Made of Sand

Very nice tune Pro
I am so loving your wonderful, varied and interesting mix list!

I think the starlight mints are my favorite discovery from you and as for my favorite so far, indeed a toughie but i’ll give it to Warren Zevon – Desperados Under the Eaves if simply because he was a dear friend of a dear friend and i never miss an opportunity to salute his quite underrated brilliance.

Very cool Prof, you’re throwing out some stuff that I’ve never heard and am enjoying immensely. Then again, your tastes are impeccible.

As for the previous songs, it’s hard to pick a favorite. So many good ones. Peter Gabriel, REM, DLJ, Echo…….it’s hard to choose. But right now, I feel like listening to The Kids Are Alright.

Hey Prof! it’s always good to see you amigo. Things here are going all right, been chaotic but I expect it to all settle down soon. Thank God! I couldn’t take much more of the same path. Thanks for the compliment, it’s always appreciated coming from you. The same with the family, here’s to a joyous season, it seems as if it’s creeping up fast!
Huevo | Dec 14, 2009

ba: wicked gil, gut feeling, this magnificent bird will rise, make use…

captain futility | Dec 14, 2009

Hi Prof,
I’ve heard a fair bit about Fionn Regan before but had only heard one song, Be Good Or Be Gone, which I like. I really enjoyed this song too and I can definitely hear a bit of Elliott Smith and Nick Drake in the music, which is definitely a good thing. Thanks very much for sharing.

BQ: Either Castles Made Of Sand or Stuck Inside Of Mobile With The Memphis Blues Again
RedDevil | Dec 14, 2009

G’day ProfAnger,

Does anybody else sort of wish women's rights hadn't become the norm?
I mean I don’t completely wish it hadn’t.
But I think just as men have their place in society, so do women.
Face it, we are not equals, men are physically stronger and more capable of leading.
Us women in general aren’t stern or smart enough.

Frankly, I’m happy to be cooking and cleaning while the man is off working.
Or even being a secretary while the man runs the company.

There’s a quote of Grace Kelly’s about this…
"Emancipation of women has made us lose our mystery".
I agree.

What do you think?

"men are physically stronger and more capable of leading. Us women in general aren’t stern or smart enough."

Speak for yourself.

Since women now, for the most part, have freedom over our lives and bodies, you can be a housewife/secretary if you want to, and I can be a marine if I want to.
Red Doll Shoes | Feb 04, 2010

I totally agree, I think it’s such bull-crap that women are now expected to do as much as men in addition to having kids, cooking and still remaining delicate, feminine and attractive. I wish I could just marry a nice guy and care for a house and kids, and not have to worry about where my career is going. I work in a place that really expects equal results from both men and women, and most of the work is physical, so sometimes I just wanna say "I’m a chick, I’m just here to be cute". But seriously the only good thing about woman’s rights is that women don’t get abused as much, they have a choice if they are in an unhealthy relationship to leave and support themselves. But that is really the only advantage.
The Monster Tamer | Feb 04, 2010

Apparently there are also smart women which lead countries , for example Germany is lead by a female chancellor , imagine that A- student woman sitting home.

What a waste , right?

I want to be independent and educate myself .
Im an A-student going on for studying medicine.[female]

What's your view on membrane sweeps?
My due date is this comming sunday (dec 6th from the largest measurement of the baby) and i am thinking about asking my midwife to do a membrane sweep. I see her tomorrow, so i dont know if she’ll do it tomorrow or have me schedual it. But i really want to know the success rate of membrane sweeps and anyone’s experience with them. My cervix is not really far back so im not so sure it will be that uncomfortable. but i do not want to be induced with chemicals as i am trying for an all natural water birth.

I really just want him to come this week mostly because i don’t want a c-section and the father of the baby was a 9 pound baby. Im only 5′1 and before i got pregnant i could only wear size double zero jeans! Now i fit a size three, so i’m not very big and im worried about him not fitting through. =[

I had false labor last night. (so i was told, it was the weak uncomfortable feeling you get in your lower tummy when you get your periods and then it would spike to this sharp like feeling) but it went away. And im 2 cm dilated and 70% effaced as of last wednesday…

would it be a good idea to ask her to do it tomorrow or not? (Im pretty sure she’s going to check my cervix tomorrow regardless because im 39 weeks and thats when they do it. I asked to have it done last week because i was going over an hour away for a wedding this past weekend.)

Has anyone had this done and it worked or didn’t work… etc? Stories please!

Thank you guys. <3

Your midwife may not do it until your 41 weeks. We are not allowed to do them until then in the trust I work in. Your partners birth weight has little to do with the weight of this baby so dont worry about that. Ive seen many men who were whoppers and their babies are tiny when born. Membrane sweeps are around 50% successful usually on the second sweep. Sonunds like you could have bubba soon anyway if your having mild contractions and already 2cm dialated. Good luck.

i say if your midwife approves and you and baby seem healthy enough…..go for it!

my son is now 8 weeks old and when i was 38 weeks pregnant my midwife did a sweep but told me she was almost certain it wouldn’t work but 8 hours later i was holding my beautiful baby boy..the sweep was very uncomfortable but soooo worth it!
Keely | Nov 30, 2009

if your offered one go for it! it doesnt work for everyone and sometimes takes mroe than one to work but its worth a try! i had 3 this time and the last one worked! i had one at 40+2, 41 weeks and 41+3, she was born at 41+4 6 mins past midnight!
its worth a try!

mum to 3yr old, 2 yr old and 4 day old!

good luck
Natalie j | Dec 01, 2009

I’ve had one with both of my daughters and my personal experience is they dont work. I still had to be induced and both daughters arrived 14days late.
However, if your midwife says to give it ago and you and baby are healthy then there’s no harm in trying. At the end of the day i tried every old fashioned method of getting labour to start when sat at 10days overdue feeling very fed up and came to the conclusion that it will happen when nature wants it to happen and the baby’s ready not when would be most convinient for us!
Good luck in whatever you decide. Enjoy the last few days of peace!
